1.      Meeting Minutes were reviewed individually and approved by a motion from the club.

2.      Financials were distributed and explained by Treasurer Millie Hunt. The candy is about to be delivers for the players to sell. We need the money because training fees have already been paid out by the club.  Don’t hold on to he money turn it in as soon as you get it.

3.      The election of officers that expire in mid season will be held over and voted on in July and be effective in July. This is because offices have become vacant mid season due to someone resigning from their post and an election to fill the position is held. To get things back on track and because we  don’t want to break people in to offices during the season we will wait for the July meeting.

4.      Fields look great!. Tom Hardy is back maintaining the fields. It is important to know that the first team that plays is responsible to set the field up and the last team that plays is responsible to secure the field ( take down the flags remove the goals).

                i.        The Dog cutouts used by the baseball club seems to be working great. Millie Hunt will contact Lee Flanagan to make arrangements for someone to copy a dog so we can make our own dog cutouts.

ii.        Riley school soccer field has a broken goal at the south end of the field. The cross bar has broken away from the post and is dangerous. Al Vill will notify Pio Pennisi to please remove the goal from the field and ask that the quick goals that are currently behind the La-Cross fields be temporally placed at Riley field.

iii.        Riley School field also need a few more trash cans

iv.        A sign that states “No Dogs Permitted” will be secured for the Kenneth Ave fields. There is one exception there is a person who has Tom Hardy’s permission to let his dogs chase the Geese.

              v.        Paul Billich is willing to donate the new weights for the nets at Kenneth Ave Fields

5.      USA training is under way and doing quite well. So far there have been no cancellations.

                     i.   Goalie practice has been well attended by the younger age group) U-8 through U-11). The older age group (U-13 through U-19) has not had good attendance.

ii.   Soccer Squirts run by United Soccer Academy has 35 participant and appears to be going well.

6.      The Candy sale is under way boxes of candy is available for pick up after tonight’s meeting.  The chairperson Christine Dispenzari is keeping track of who is actually selling the candy. That is a list of individuals from each team selling candy. All candy money is to be remitted to Christine. Any player taking advantage of the Buy out is to turn that money to Millie Hunt. All money weather it’s “Candy Sale” or “Buy Out” money is Due on May 15 2005.

      i.        Questions on the Candy sale should be directed to Christine via e-mail MCDISPO@comcast.com

7.      Clothing sale went well and the first order is due to arrive soon. There is no set order schedule so if you want to place an order get the info to Tracey Lundy. As soon as there are enough orders she will send it in.

8.      Canning brought in $5917.02 to the club treasury. There were some problems the cold weather and the need to reschedule to canning was almost a total washout for the event. At the eleventh hour and by a lot of individual effort it all came together to the total just under six thousand dollars.

         i.       It is important too make the parents on your team realize that there is a lot of leg work that goes into planning this event. The easy part is actually standing out there collecting the money. The canning committee has to organize with the town to get the permits and then they have to go to the store to ask for permission to stand outside and collect. It seems that maybe the parents and some coaches don’t care and only look at this as an inconvenience.

ii.       This Club actually looses money on each team by having such low registration fees and providing free goal keeper training and supplementing all of the training fees. We need you to get your team to have 100% participation

iii.       The new canning buy out will be $50.00 per can which is slightly under the average can. This was done because there is more incentive to pay the $25.00 and stay home than there is to go out and can. If every player only brought in $25.00 the income would be in the $2,000.00 range not the $6,000.00 or $7000.00 range

9.      Snack Stand will not be ready until some time at the end of the season. The problem is now the fact that the State of NJ Dept of Community Affairs Code enforcement official realized that there are paper street that run through our fields and wanted to have them vacated before any structures can be erected. A motion was placed before the town zoning board and we need to wait until May 15 to find out if there are any objections. If no objections are noted then construction will begin.

10.  Snack Stand committee is still a requirement. So far only the Fire, Rockets and the Bullets have provided members for the committee. Each team IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A VOLUNTEER. There is a budget to start the snack stand up.

11.  High School Liaison Pete Kelly reports there is no official word on hiring a new boys soccer coach but the word on the street is that they are looking to hire one. The parents are looking forward to some new blood getting in and hopefully revitalizing the effort need to have a successful program.

      i.        Bruce Hunt added that the job must be posted and can not just be awarded to the old applicants.

12.  Soccer Squirts discussed in agenda item 5

13.  Try outs will be held this May. For U–8 through U-11 May 23 & May 25 and for

      U-12 through 14 May 24 & May 26.

      i.        There was talk about possibly forming a U-16 boys team for this coming fall but there is some doubt  as to there are enough players and if the league can support our level of play.

ii.        If a new player (that being a player who has not played in this club before) tries out for a team he must tryout for the age appropriate group.

iii.        If a player who has played up an age group before for a full year, tries out for the club he should try out one night in each age group. If he tries out for the older group and fails to qualify for the older group and doesn’t try out for the younger group he may not be selected for a team.

iv.   If a player tries out in an age group that has more than one team. The coaches of each team must work it out as to where that player winds up. Special consideration must be given to that players choice of team. That does not mean the player get to pick but the preference must be considered and the coaches must work it out and agree on the outcome.

          v.   Coaches are encouraged to pre register their teams for try outs

14.  Open items Tonight was Rich Little’s first soccer Club meeting and he is the new head coach of the U-14 Blaze (replacing Tom Hardy) Good Luck Rich!

      i.        Coaches care Softball benefit has changed to the Coaches care golf outing. It is June 4th and the Club will be sending in some type of sponsorship.

ii.        A Scholarship committee is being formed so that the South Plainfield Soccer Club  has a scholarship to offer a local senior as a goodwill gesture. Michelle Billich and Scott Bishop both expressed interest in being on this committee. (thank you)

iii.        At our next meeting the By-law changes originally proposed in December will be re-introduced. This time we will entertain a “Line Item Veto” where we can discuss each line of the proposed changes and approve or reject on a line by line basis.

 Meeting concluded approximately 9:45pm
